Postdoctoral Reseach Fellowship in nucleic acid-based therapy for viral infections

A postdoctoral research fellowship is available to work on an exciting research project that is aimed at developing nucleic acid-based therapy for viral infections. The focus of the research will be mainly on the development of gene silencing technology to disable the hepatitis B virus. The successful candidate should have a PhD in basic biological sciences. The post is initially available for one year and based on satisfactory performance and progress is renewable for a further year.

Minimum requirements:

  1. PhD obtained within the last 5 years
  2. Knowledge and practical skills in basic molecular biology procedures.

Additional requirements:

Experience with the following would be advantageous:

  1. Experience with teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  2. Undertake focused and high quality research;
  3. Undertake other activities related to the academic programme and the professional development of the individual;
  4. Assistance with supervision of junior postgraduate students.
  5. Minor teaching responsibilities to undergraduates in the Health Sciences Faculty.
