The WSOA offers programmes in fine arts, digital arts, music, dramatic arts, television and film studies,history of arts and art culture and heritage management to students at undergraduate and postgraduate level.These programmes reflect our commitment to engaging critically with a rich and diverse cultural heritage striving to be in touch with, and contribute to, current thinking and practice in all fields of artistic endeavour.

.As a student at the WSOA you can expect to be part of a dynamic academic community. An internationally recognized team of artists and theorists motivates students to forge independent and politically and socially engaged artistic positions.

We expect our graduates to be excellent practitioners in their fields of creative knowledge, but also to possess the critical mindset of independent thinkers who are able to contribute as public intellectuals to the further expansion of South Africa’s diverse and rich art scene.
