Bachelor of Education (Honours)

The Bachelor of Education (Honours) degree offered by the School of Education is offered full-time over one year or part-time over two years, in two modes of delivery, contact mode where students attend weekly lectures, and block release mode where students attend during government school holidays and work with materials at home.

The programme comprises

  • Two compulsory first year modules: Educational Theory, Research and Enquiry 1 and 2
  • Two second year modules selected from the following specialised areas:
  • Curriculum issues
  • Educational policy, change and management
  • Human rights and democracy in education
  • Issues in primary education
  • Language and literacy education
  • On-line teaching and learning
  • Studies in Deaf Education
  • Studies in Inclusive Education and Learning Support
  • Life Orientation
  • Maths Education
  • A Science education

(Note: Specialisations may be restricted by the number of students electing to take a course and staff availability in any one year.)

A compulsory research module in two parts, Project in Education Part 1 and 2. The Project in Education allows students to undertake a small-scale investigation under the guidance of a supervisor, in an educational area of their choice as long as it is linked to the specialised area they have chosen.
