M.Sc.(Med) (Research based)

The Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacology offers a M.Sc. degree which is based solely on research. This can be done in any relevant field of Pharmacy and Pharmacology and encompassses the broad areas of Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacy Practice, and Pharmacotherapy. Students must have either a B. Pharm. degree, and in the case of an M.Sc. in Pharmacology, a basic knowledge of Pharmacology.

The course may be done over 2 or 3 years, i.e. full-time or part-time. If done on a part-time basis, students must ensure that it is done at a laboratory that has been approved by the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacology.

Procedure

1. Applications to the courses below should be received by October each year and sent to the Faculty Office. Application forms are available from Alison. Following a review of your application by the Department a letter of acceptance or rejection will be sent to you. This will be around late November. Registration will take place early February in the Medical School Faculty Office (Room 4B02C).
2. Students pursuing the full course will pay fees as listed at the University fees site. The academic fees for each year are currently under review.

The payment of fees is the responsibility of the student.
