Elective clerkship application procedures :

• Calculate the appropriate registration fee.
  
  
• Read the section below describing the different forms and the payments that must accompany them ( print the form on a laser or ink-jet printer (dot matrix printers are not acceptable).
  
  
• Fill in the documents and, where appropriate, get the Registrar or Dean of your home institution to counter sign the document.

REGISTRATION FORMS

Form A - Registration as a visiting student
ALL students must complete Form A to register as a temporary visiting student with the Medical School. Enclose two passport size photographs.

Form B - Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa
All prospective visiting students must complete Section A and Section B of Form B to register with the HPCSA in terms of the statutory requirement. The Elective Office will complete Section C on behalf of the University of the Witwatersrand. The application for registration with the HPCSA as a temporary medical student will be forwarded to the Council by the Elective Office on behalf of the student together with the accompanying HPCSA registration fee. NB: the HPCSA registration fee increases annually and is NOT refundable under any circumstance.
