* The School offers at least 3 fields of study each year depending on the number of registered students. This allows us to be flexible and to meet felt needs. Unfortunately not every field of study is offered every year - this depends on the number of students who register. The advert will specify on a year on year basis which fields are on offer.
For students who wish to pursue a career in research, this one year full-time ( 3 years part-time) masters course includes extensive computer-based training in epidemiology and biostatistics, with an introductory course in demography, research ethics and surveillance. Selective options include communicable, non-communicable and clinical epidemiology. A limited number of fellowships are available through TDR(WHO). Course Administrator: Mrs Angeline Zwane angeline.zwane@wits.ac.zaTel. 27-11-717 2596 MSc in EPIDEMIOLOGY in the field of POPULATION-BASED FIELD EPIDEMIOLOGY Develops capacity of researchers in longitudinal data management in order to respond to the key public health challenges of the developing countries. The course includes epidemiology, biostatistics, management of relational databases and leadership in research. Coursework is 18 months full time with a 6-month field placement. Limited number of fellowships available through INDEPTH and from TDR/WHO.
MSc in INFECTIOUS DISEASES EPIDEMIOLOGY Offers training in epidemiology, biostatistics, research ethics, surveillance, infectious disease epidemiology and statistical modelling in infectious dieases. The course is complemented by modules in protocol development, clinicial trials, statistical analysis of clinical trials.
