Graduations

The Examinations and Graduation Office (EGO) provides a service to students regarding graduations and examinations. The University runs approximately 24 graduation ceremonies annually and it is the responsibility of EGO to co-ordinate the ceremonies, keep records of each ceremony procedures and print the degree/diploma certificates.

What do I need to graduate?

You must fulfil all requirements for your diploma/degree and your fee account must be settled in full and on time, at least 30 days prior to the ceremony date. You also need to make sure you have no outstanding matters with the University.

Where & when?

The Graduation Ceremony is held in the Great Hall on East Campus and commences promptly at 10am (morning session) & 3pm (afternoon session). The duration of the ceremony is approximately 2 hours.

Certificates & transcripts

The University only issues ONE ORIGINAL certificate per graduate. Certificates are issued to graduates and diplomates at graduation ceremonies and posted to those who were unable to attend. Transcripts are issued by the individual Faculties.

Keeping in touch

Once you have completed your degree you become an "Alumnus" of the University. Wits University offers a wide range of benefits and services to alumni, including access to campus facilities, mentoring programmes and keeping in touch with other alumni
