The School of Economic and Business Science (SEBS) has a long history of producing outstanding business graduates who have gone on to become leaders in business and industry. Ongoing active engagement with regional and national economic issues ensures that we remain relevant to South Africa’s changing economic landscape, and informs leading teaching and research.

SEBS offering includes a wide range of exciting and stimulating post-graduate programmes. Students engaged in our Honours, Masters and Doctorate programmes have access to experienced lecturers and supervisors who are leaders in their field. There are many opportunities to specialise in various areas of study and to get involved in cutting-edge research, either on an individual basis or in affiliation with the School’s many specialised research groups and units. Students also have the option of engaging in cross-disciplinary research.

Our first-rate teaching staff comprises some of the country’s foremost economists and National Research Foundation (NRF)-rated researchers. Many of our staff have PhDs and are experienced supervisors for student research projects and dissertations.

Many of our academics have a strong research interest in the area of teaching and learning and have published in the area of professional education. This informs the many innovative approaches to teaching, which are particularly valuable in some of our larger undergraduate classes.

Externally, SEBS has established relationships with leading business organisations. Information Systems Honours students participate in a four-week vacation internship programme with top blue-chip companies in the ICT arena, including the likes of Standard Bank, FNB, Mindworx, KPMG, Dimension Data and BSG.
