In a world of seven billion people, how we work together in organisations and how we distribute resources are going to be of critical importance for our survival and ongoing enjoyment of life. The school of economic and business sciences addresses these issues both in our ongoing research and in our teaching programmes.
Researchers are invited to find a home within one of our research groups where you can engage with like-minded people in a supportive and well-resourced environment.
The school includes a wide range of disciplines so that we bring different perspectives and approaches to bear on complex global and local problems. Of course our differences mean that SEBS is not a comfortable place to be. We don’t often agree and ideas cannot go unchallenged. This is not a place of complacent agreement and fixed views, but a place of contestation and debate as we engage with ideas and argue about evidence. Here you will be challenged to think.
It is difficult to predict what skills and knowledge will be needed in a rapidly-changing future. A general Bachelor’s degree from Wits is an excellent starting point for any number of interesting career paths. This is borne out by our illustrious alumni who have become entrepreneurs, succeeded in business and taken the lead in political positions. We also offer a number of specialist programmes.
We welcome researchers and students who would like to be part of this exciting environment.
