Strategic Planning Division

The Strategic Planning Division facilitates strategic planning for support units and faculties as required at any given time. This function is performed to ensure that there is visible alignment of strategic plans for various sub-units with the overarching university strategy. This function involves workshop facilitation and development of ‘first draft’ strategic plans for these units and divisions.

The Strategic Planning Division (SPD) was established in 1995 to facilitate strategic planning processes of the University. Currently the Strategic Planning Division (SPD) comprises of the Institutional Research Unit (IRU), Quality Improvement Unit (QIU) and the Office of the Director. The Institutional Research Unit (IRU) was established in 2001 as a direct consequence of the Wits 2001 Review process.

Functions of the SPD

The role of SPD continues to be defined in relation to the strategic needs of the university, and our responsibilities are firmly embedded in the university’s strategic planning processes.

Wits Vision 2022

In 2010, the Strategic Planning Division was tasked with the responsibility of developing the Vision 2022 Strategic Framework and the Wits 2013 Strategy.
