The Strategic Planning Division (SPD) is a professional service unit reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Academic, located in the Vice-Chancellor’s Office. The mandate of the office is to lead institutional strategic thinking, planning, development and implementation of Wits strategic plans. The division has interest in promoting coordinated planning across different University functions which is aligned to the main strategic plan of the University.
The Strategic Planning Division (SPD) was established in 1995 to facilitate the strategic planning and strategic thinking processes of the University. Currently, the Strategic Planning Division comprises the: Office of the Director (Strategy, Benchmarking, and Monitoring & Evaluation), Analytics & Institutional Research Unit (AIRU), and the Quality & Academic Planning Office (QAPO). The staff of the Strategic Planning Division is comprised of qualified strategic planners, business and data analysts, statisticians, researchers and project administrators.
